I do agree that many people move to urban areas due to infrastructural
reasons, educational reasons and many other reasons. Apart from
decentralizing industries and government offices the government should
also consider setting up new industries in rural areas so as to make them
unique, this can be based on climatic conditions of the area in subject,
the main economic activity in the area e.g., coffee farming, the
population composition and distribution which depicts the labor, natural
resources in the area, etc.
This will aid in attracting people from the more developed urban areas
thus reducing rural urban migration.
The decentralizing of institutions of higher learning is a welcome idea
and the starting of new ones is a brilliant idea, however the education
ministry should ensure that the courses of learning are not imited to a
certain university and should encourage the universities to try and offer
all the courses available in the main campus be equally available in the
subsidiary campuses.
This will aid in reducing rural urban migration as most main campuses are
in urban areas, this move will mainly target post graduate students whoare looking for employment and at the same time advancing their knowledge.
